Hutzul New Year 2019

Day 1:
Departure from Lviv (8 am) – Kolomyia (tour to Museum of Hutzul Culture, Museum of Pysanka, dinner) – Verkhovyna (lodging in Hutzul house, Hutzul New Year celebration)
Departure from Lviv to Kolomyia – the city of kolomyikas, traditional Hutzul songs – with its peculiar Secession-style architecture in the centre. Kolomyia hosts the unique Museum of Pysanka – a must-see of this tour. The museum is located in an unusual building in form of a pysanka (Ukrainian traditional painted Easter egg) 13 m high. Twelve thousand exponents are exhibited there! After that, you will go on a tour of the Museum of Hutzul and Pokuttia Culture and other interesting sights of the city – the City Hall and the wooden Church of Annunciation. From Kolomyia we go to our next destination – Verkhovyna, where the Hutzul New Year celebration will be held.

Day 2:
Late breakfast and departure (12 pm) – Verkhovyna (tour & concert in Museum of Roman Kumlyk, tour & photos in traditional Hutzul clothes in “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors” Museum, visit to “Khata-Staya” Museum) – Kryvorivnia (visit to “Hutzul Grazhda” Museum and wooden church) – Verkhovyna (degustation of freshly-brewed beer, return to cottages and supper)
The day will be full of interesting tours. We will start with a visit to the “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors” Museum, where you can have a photo-session in folk costumes. Then we will go on a tour and a concert in the Museum of Roman Kumlyk. In the “Khata-Staya” Museum, we will taste authentic brynza – traditional Hutzul cheese. Beer aficionados will like “Verkhovyna” beer degustation.

Day 3:
Breakfast and departure (8 am) – Bukovel (ascent on a cableway to the top of the Mount Bukovel, panorama of the Carpathians, dinner and free time) – Yaremche (waterfall, “Hutzulshchyna” restaurant, souvenir shopping) – Lviv (coming back at 10:30 pm)
A trip to the #1 ski resort in the Ukrainian Carpathians – Bukovel. The ascent to the mountaintop on a cableway will excite you with a panorama of the Gorgany and Chornohora, always majestic in their wild beauty. Their magnificence is emphasized with the contrast of brilliant snows and dark fir-tree forests. From Bukovel we will go to Yaremche to see the Probiy waterfall. Yaremche is a small and cosy town, the Carpathian climate resort. Here you may taste traditional cuisine in the wooden “Hutzulshchyna” restaurant.
Holidays always end fast. And Hutzul New Year has to end too. We come back to Lviv. Memories of this Weekend Tour to Carpathians, though, will stay with you much longer and will call you on another journey.
