Wine & Cheese Tour of Transcarpathia

Lviv – “Carpathians” Sanatorium (Schonborn Palace) – Mukachevo (Palanok Castle) – Beregove (bathing in thermal springs) – Nyzhnie Selyshche village (degustation of wine & cheese) – Iza (wickerwork souvenirs, deer farm) – Mizhhirya (cableway to the Mount Makovytsia) – Pylypets (Shypit Waterfall) – Lviv

A weekend or a holiday is a nice time to go on an interesting and tasty journey. The Wine & Cheese Tour of Transcarpathia is a wonderful option. The tour is an opportunity to see historical places, enjoy panoramas of mountain landscapes, and try tasty Transcarpathian homemade cheeses, flavouring them with fragrant wines from sunny valleys.

Day 1:
The road from Lviv will lead us first to the “Carpathians” Sanatorium and the famous Schonborn Palace. The palace captures imagination with its unconventional architectural concept and with magnificent stained glasses on religious subjects. Our next stop – the Palanok Castle – is an absolute opposite: a massive structure that looms over the cosy town of Mukachevo, which looks like a toy next to it.
After these two tours, full of artistic and historical exponents, it’s time to think about a dinner. After dinner, a visit to Beregovo to bathe in the pools with water from thermal springs is more than well timed. Wine degustation will be a perfect way to finish the day.
After a visit to the deer farm, we will spend the night in cottages for green tourism in the Beregovo District.

Day 2:
Transcarpathia is famous for its traditional dishes of different national cuisines. Among these, wine and cheese deserve a special mention. That’s why we will start our day with a tour to the Nyzhne Selyshche Village, where you can taste local cheeses. Please note that all the cheeses are ecological and made with modern Swiss technologies.
Wicker is a material with remarkable properties. It is used to make various objects for everyday use, and even furniture. In Iza, you will get an opportunity to buy masterfully made local wickerwork.
Then, we will ascend the Mount Makovytsia in Mizhhirya by a cableway. On top, we will have a dinner in the “Kolyba” restaurant.
After you’ve enjoyed the view from the top of the mountain, we will go to Kelechyn to taste “Kelechynska” mineral water. It has peculiar taste due to a high content of iron.
Near the Pylypets village, there’s one of the most famous waterfalls in the Carpathians – Shypit. A photo next to it is a nice bonus to all the other colourful and tasty impressions of the tour.
Here we finish our Weekend Tour and go back to Lviv.
